Deep Dive

We know how difficult it is to focus for a long time due to exposure to various stimuli. Therefore, in-depth and comprehensive discussions on carefully selected topics will take place in 90-minute Deep Dive sessions. In the sessions where the preliminary studies carried out during MARUF on the Go events will be used as a base, intricate issues will be examined in depth and potential solutions will be explored. Deep Dive sessions are designed to provide a comprehensive understanding of urban issues, encourage exchange of ideas among experts, policymakers and other relevant urban stakeholders, and produce a common discourse at the end of MARUF23.

Quick Takes

Instead of long and detailed explanations, we want to reach concise information and analyze more urban issues. Quick Take sessions will serve this goal by providing dynamic content that lays the foundation of various urban issues and focus on the essence of the issue in just 30 minutes. After a session full of brainstorming ideas and solutions, our networking area will be waiting for you if you want to learn more.

Hype or Not?

Hype or Not? sessions will critically examine urban trends, technologies and ideas that are produced for a better urban life to determine their actual impact and potential for sustainable urban development and provide a framework for long-term results from different perspectives. Popular or trendy concepts/tools will be discussed through effective presentations. You will be the judge of the solutions proposed at the end of 60-minute sessions.

Local in Action

In these sessions, which will focus on exhibiting successful urban projects implemented at the local level, the main objective is to emphasize the value of bottom-up approaches and collaboration between different stakeholders and to inspire participants. Local actors will lead the dissemination of inclusive, safe, sustainable, creative solutions and strategies by sharing their work that has a positive impact on a local, regional or global scale in these 45- or 60-minute sessions.

Urban Basics Session

On the very first day of MARUF23, as we take a step into resilience and beyond, we refresh our memories. We listen to our fundamental rights which are a part of urban life, from experts in the field at the “Urban Basics” sessions

Play Marmara

Play Marmara, a Maruf classic, is preparing to produce solutions with the power of gamification this year too. Play Marmara, designed as a serious game that brings together different actors working for the Marmara Region, this time focuses on the food and logistics issue in the Marmara Region. If you are curious about learning through games, making decisions together, and the food issue, mark Play Marmara on your calendar.

Dialogue Marmara

During the Dialogue Marmara sessions, we delve into a detailed discussion about the Marmara Region, exploring everything from its sea to its land, its leaders to its youth.

Networking

Networking events are designed to help organizations share knowledge and experiences, engage in interdisciplinary discussions, and develop partnerships with various stakeholders on specific issues. These events bring together representatives from different sectors working towards similar goals.

Workshops

Just listening and talking is not enough; we also need to produce together. Our workshops, which we refer to as short-term creative urbanism courses, will offer engaging and innovative content throughout MARUF. Join us in these workshops to better understand urban issues, work collaboratively to solve problems, and develop alternative solutions.

Urban Cinema

Urban Cinema is calling all film enthusiasts, city explorers, and urban visionaries to an extraordinary event that will transport you to the bustling streets, hidden alleys, and vibrant stories of urban life through movie screenings and panel discussions.

Detailed Program of Urban Cinema

Urban Library

Apart from offering a curated selection of books for urbanism enthusiasts, the Urban Library will also host panels and workshops with authors and translators, aimed at re-establishing the connection between text and the city.

Showcase

The showcase sessions provide a platform for PhD students, start-ups, and implementers to present their research, developed technologies, and projects that aim to tackle urban challenges within a limited timeframe of 3, 5, and 8 minutes.

YoundTable

YoungTable, with its discussions on MARUF23 from the perspective of youth, prepares us for MARUF25.

Opening

Opening sessions at MARUF23 and World Metropolitan Day will provide a solid foundation for the discussions and ideas that will be shared throughout the event, and will offer attendees a valuable perspective on the key themes and topics that will be explored.

Closing

The closing session of MARUF23 is not just a conclusion to the forum; it is an opportunity for us to evaluate the event and move beyond...

Special Session

The special sessions organized by MARUF23 partners foster in-depth discussions led by expert speakers in their respective areas of expertise.

Closed Session

MARUF23 partners convene in Closed Meetings, bringing together their networks to collaboratively seek solutions to urban challenges.
